Our Story
Why?
After over 15 years shaping stories for global fashion brands and luxury e-commerce, I found myself consistently inspired by African designers—their vision, their artistry, their modernity. I kept returning to one idea: what if discovering and wearing African fashion was easier, more intuitive, and more global?
I created Kota to fill a gap for a new generation of global citizens. I saw the chance to make luxury African fashion beautifully accessible—styled in a way that speaks to how people actually dress today.
At Kota, we reframe the way fashion is discovered and worn. We believe that adding something new can be intentional and sustainable—and that the right piece doesn’t just elevate your look, it reflects who you are. We curate the best of pan-African design, styling it alongside the Western pieces you already love. It’s a new kind of mix and match, where the African designer leads—and everything else follows effortlessly.
I hope Kota becomes more than a destination. I hope it becomes a way to see yourself, styled differently.

It's in the name
Kọta
Kọta means “to gather” or “to collect”—a powerful word that appears across languages and cultures in Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. We chose it because it reflects everything we stand for: bringing together exceptional designers, curating pieces that connect cultures, and creating space for self-expression through a new kind of global wardrobe.
We're starting with Africa—but who knows? One day, we may grow into those very markets, gathering even more people into this community of style.
